The Difference Colour Makes

More Than a Colour Filter —
A Window Into History

Colour triggers emotion and recognition in a way grayscale simply cannot. When you see a family member's photo in colour for the first time — their eyes, their clothing, the flowers they held — it creates an entirely new emotional connection.

Our colourisation process goes far beyond automated filters. We research historical clothing, flag, and landscape colours. We consult with clients about family members' appearance. Every colour decision is intentional and meaningful.

"The colourisation of my late father's war-era photos is the most precious thing in our home. My children can now see him as he truly was."

Bringing People to Life

Skin tones are the most complex and important element in portrait colourisation. We use advanced analysis to detect undertones and match natural skin colour, then our experts fine-tune for the most natural result.

Preserving Family Legacy

Group photos require careful colour harmony across multiple faces and outfits. We treat each person individually and can incorporate your family's colour memories — "Mom's dress was blue" — into the final result.

Tell Us the Colours

Did your grandmother have green eyes? Did your grandfather wear a navy uniform? Was that wedding dress cream or ivory? The more colour details you share, the more accurate and personal your colourisation becomes. Include any colour notes when you contact us.

How Colourisation Works

1

Submit & Consult

Send your B&W photo and share any colour memories — clothing, eye colour, landscape details — that will guide our artists.

2

Precision Segmentation

Our workflow identifies every object, skin tone, and texture in the image to create precise, edge-perfect colour zones.

3

Artist Refinement

Human artists apply historically accurate, emotionally resonant colours and refine every shadow, highlight, and transition.

4

Review & Deliver

You review the result and request any changes. We refine until it looks exactly right, then deliver in high resolution.

FAQ

Colourisation Questions

How accurate are the colours?
Our colourisation workflow is guided by extensive historical references and modern colour science. For portrait skin tones, our accuracy is extremely high. For clothing and backgrounds, we use historical research, and any colour information you provide is incorporated directly into the process for the most personal result.
Can I provide specific colour guidance?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. The more detail you can share (eye colour, hair colour, notable clothing colours, season/location details), the more personal and accurate your result will be. You can include written notes with your submission.
What types of photos can be colourised?
Any black and white photograph — portraits, group photos, wedding photos, military photos, historical scenes, architecture, and landscapes. Even severely damaged or low-resolution photos can be colourised, though we may recommend restoration as a first step.
Can I combine colourisation with upscaling?
Yes — in fact, this is our most popular combination. We often upscale the photo first to recover detail, then apply colourisation for the best possible result. Bundle pricing is available for combined services.
How many revisions are included?
Unlimited. We won't stop revising until the colours feel exactly right to you. This is your family's history — it needs to be perfect.
